Businessman Vladimir Potanin is sanctioned

Canada has imposed sanctions against the co-owner of Norilsk Nickel, Vladimir Potanin, prohibiting him from making transactions with any property in this country and receiving debt financing.

According to Egor Noskov, Managing Partner of Duvernoix Legal, the greatest risk for Russian companies conducting foreign economic activity is not in direct or sectoral sanctions, but in the fact that there is a high risk of foreign counterparties refusing to cooperate, from import-export operations. Foreign representatives do not want to take the risk that they will not take into account any sanctions or that these sanctions will be imposed later.

"They take into account the extremely negative information background regarding Russia and simply do not want to have anything to do with a country that has become an absolute outcast in the eyes of the Western world, so as not to fall under boycotts and reputational risks," said Egor Noskov to NEWS.ru.
