On November 25, Igor Gushchev – senior partner of Duvernoix Legal took part in the traditional BestBreakfast on the restaurant business, organized by the “Best” Group of Companies in PROVIANT restaurant.

The event participants discussed the current crisis in the restaurant business caused by the coronavirus pandemic, as well as its future prospects.

According to Igor Gushchev:

"The government does not want to declare the epidemic a force majeure, the courts supported this position. Regional authorities were given the opportunity to introduce restrictive measures without calling them quarantine. Thus, all the problems were shoved on the business, including the restaurant business. Now the authorities are trying to simply freeze the situation from a legal point of view – to postpone the payment of taxes and rent. But when the second wave ends and normal life resumes, we will face a big wave of bankruptcies. Business will be whelmed by deferred obligations."
